Description: My limits reset weekly, and unspent started to feel like lost. So I invented workflows I didn't need. The cure wasn't restraint — it was a goal I could name.

In May I [argued](/blog/ai-is-a-multiplier-not-a-metric/) that counting tokens measures activity, not productivity. Then I put a tokens usage gauge in my own terminal.

In Cyberpunk, cyberpsychosis is what happens when you install more chrome than a person can hold. Mine runs backwards. Not too much chrome — an empty slot, and a clock telling me when the slot expires. My limits reset weekly. Whatever I haven't spent by then is gone, and unspent started to feel like lost.

So I spent. I invented [workflows](/blog/show-me-your-month-old-workflow/) I didn't need, for problems I didn't have, because I could spin Claude up to build them. The bar went yellow and nothing shipped.

Activity is the easiest thing in the world to manufacture.

The cure wasn't restraint. It was a goal I could name — because a goal has a stopping condition.

P.S. I'm compiling a roadmap of ideas I'd like to test once I have tokens left 😄
